In June of 2018, Minera Escondida (BHP) incorporated the first Vertical Tire Manipulator, developed by FMA, which allows maximum safety and speed in the removal of OTR tires, taking operators out of the line of fire, reducing the time and number of workers in this task. The main difference with a traditional Tire Manipulator is that it incorporates a work platform for extracting  and placing the wheel nuts, avoiding  risks of the traditional approach, in which operators are exposed to tire drops, moving platforms, etc., being able to definitively carry the task with total safety, less workers and in less time.
